A Taste of Honeyテイスト・オブ・ハニー
78年、ディスコ・フィーバー真っ只なかのアメリカに爆裂曲「今夜はブギ・ウギ・ウギ」を投下したガールズ・グループ、テイスト・オブ・ハニー。フロントを務めるのはセクシーなネエちゃんふたり、ヘイゼル・ペイン（vo&g）とジャニス・ジョンソン（vo&b）。彼女たちの甘く切ないヴォーカル、さらには官能的なギター・カッティング／グルーヴィなベース・ライン、そしてタイトなリズム・セクションが織りなす流麗なディスコ・チューンはフロアを席巻し、ダイナマイト・ヒットとなった。その後も、坂本九の名曲「上を向いて歩こう」をオリエンタル風味たっぷりにカヴァーした「スキヤキ」、DJに人気のダンス・チューン「レスキュー・ミー」……などと佳曲を次々と発表。現在は、ジャニス・マリー（ジャニス・ジョンソンから改名）＝テイスト・オブ・ハニーとして活動を継続しているらしい（つまりはソロ・プロジェクトですな）。ここで聴ける「ヴェーモス・ア・ブギ・ウギ」は、前述の「今夜はブギ・ウギ・ウギ」にファンキーなパーカッションをプラスした、ぐっとアダルト・チックなムードの漂うニュー・ヴァージョンに仕上げられている。
