Crassクラス
"アナーキー＆ピース"をスローガンに掲げたUKハードコア・レジェンド、クラス。彼らの始まりは意外と古く、60年代にまで遡る。リーダーでありドラマーのペニー・リンボー（ペニ棒）は、当時より独自のコミューンを形成。アナーキズムに基づく生活をしていた。そこに70年代後期、セックス・ピストルズやクラッシュによるパンク・ムーヴメントの洗礼を受けた若者スティーヴ・イノラント（vo）が加わり、２人は曲作りをスタート。77年には、アート・ワーク担当のメンバーを含む８人編成となり、本格的に活動を開始する。
反システムで貫かれた際どい歌詞（デビュー・アルバムの一曲目に収録されるハズだった「Asylm」では、キリストを冒涜したりもした）、フリーキーに鳴らされるサウンドは、どのパンク・バンドより異質な個性を放っていた。さらに、（広げるとポスター状になる）アルバム・ジャケットにも、社会に対する批判的なメッセージをビッシリと書き込み、自らの主張を伝える媒体として活用。そうした姿勢は、シーンで圧倒的な支持を得たのである。——しかし彼らは、結成時の宣言通り84年をもって活動停止してしまう。
その後、スティーヴはSTRATFORD MERCENARIESTとして98年に来日。クラス時代のナンバーも披露した。
