    女性シンガー、アメール・ラリューとプロデューサー、ブライス・ウィルソン（元マントロニクス）により結成されたデュオ、グルーヴ・セオリー。彼らの代表作といえば、やはりデビュー・シングル「テル・ミー」（95年）ということになるか。メリー・ジェーン・ガールズの「オール・ナイト・ロング」をサンプリングした、ヒップホップ・オリエンテッドなビート／やるせない想いが伝わってくるような哀愁に満ちたメロディ感覚／癒し的魅力を内包した透明感の強いヴォーカル・ワーク——それらが溶け合って生み出された、落ち着きのあるこのミッド・ナンバーは、ヒップホップ／R＆Bシーンの両サイドからアツイ支持を得ることになった。同年にリリースされた１stアルバム『グルーヴ・セオリー』でも、「テル・ミー」同様のヒンヤリした雰囲気が漂うリラックス・チューンを満喫できる。
    00年に入り、ヴォーカリストがラリューからキュートな声質のマケダ・デイヴィスにチェンジ。同年発表の「４シュア」では、音数をグッと抑えたシンプルなプロダクションのR＆Bナンバーが展開されている。
