    MONDO GROSSO／MONDAY満ちる／ACOなど多数のプロデュースを手掛けた、COSMIC VILLAGEのリーダーでもある沖野修也（兄）と、大阪・南船場のレコード店＜Especial Records＞を運営する好洋（弟）による兄弟DJユニット。91年、地元・京都にて結成。ユニット名は、アシッド・ジャズの生みの親、ジャイルス・ピーターソンが来日時に発した"キョウトをジャズでマッシヴしろ！"という言葉に由来する。
    ふたりは、テクノ・ポップ・ブームの洗礼を受けた後、フュージョンへと傾倒。兄・修也は、アシッド・ジャズ誕生前夜の87年にイギリスへと渡り、自由な精神に満ちたロンドンのクラブ・カルチャーを目の当りにする。帰国後、DJ活動を開始。93年に上京し、渋谷・桜ヶ丘でクラブ＜The Room＞をオープン。東京のクラブ・カルチャー普及／促進に努めた。
    94年、デビュー・アルバム『Kyoto Jazz Massive』を発表。00年には、フランスのレーベル＜Yellow Productions＞とドイツの＜Compost＞からもリリースを果たす。「Kyoto Jazz Massive EP」に収録された「The View From Her Room」では、ゲスト・ヴォーカルとしてボサ・ノヴァの神ジョアン・ジルベルトの娘、ベベル・ジルベルトをフィーチャー。「Eclipse」は＜London BBC Radio 1＞にて、３週間に渡り第１位を獲得する快挙を成し遂げた。さらに、リミキサーとしても手腕を発揮。これまでに、U.F.O.／ススム・ヨコタ／アナンダ・プロジェクトなど、多数のリミックスを手掛けている。——ジャズ／ソウル／ファンク／ラテン／ボサ・ノヴァなどを洗練された感覚で融合し、ヨーロッパのシーンをも揺るがすKJMは、言うまでもなく日本のクラブ・ジャズ界が世界に誇る偉才である。
