    ウォールフラワーズがバンドとして正当な評価を受けたのは、まぎれもなく96年リリースの『ブリンギング・ダウン・ザ・ホース』によってだろう。カントリー／フォーク／ルーツ・ロックを絶妙にブレンドし、生み出される乾いた感触をもつ楽曲。そして、ビターなしゃがれ声で熱く歌い上げるヴォーカル、ハギレ良くフレキシブルな展開をみせるバンド・アンサンブル、それらを最大限に活かしたこのアルバムは400万枚以上のセールスを記録——それまで彼らにつきまとった"ボブ・ディランの息子、ジェイコブ・ディラン率いるバンド"というレッテルを削ぎ落としたのだ。また、その影には、ウォールフラワーズの潜在能力を開花させたプロデューサー、Ｔ・ボーン・バーネットの尽力があったことも見逃せない。
