    Art of Noiseアート・オブ・ノイズ

    奇才プロデューサー、トレヴァー・ホーン率いる＜ZTT＞レーベルから、83年にデビュー・シングル「Into Battle」をリリース。当初アート・オブ・ノイズは、メンバーの正体が一切明かされない謎のプロジェクトであった。後にジョナサン・Ｊ・ジェック・ザリック／アン・ダドリー／ゲイリー・ランガンによるユニットであることが判明。84年に、「Close」「Moments In Love」をヒットさせ、１stアルバム『Who Afraid Of The Art Of Noise』を発表した。
    彼らは、当時まだ普及していなかった最先端のサンプリング技術を導入し、大胆なカットアップ・コラージュを実践。その、あまりにも奇抜で先鋭的なサウンドは、エレクトロニック・ミュージックのみならず、あらゆる音楽シーンにまで影響を及ぼした。超重量級ビートと、ひたすら繰り返される効果音の解体と再生は、今日のヒップホップ／ドラムン・ベースの模範であり、サンプリング・ミュージックの究極といえる。——テクノを知るうえで、これは絶対に聴いておかねばならない。
