    バッド・レリジョンはロサンゼルス出身のパンク・バンドとしてはもっとも息が長いという栄誉に輝いている。
    もう20年近くにわたり、彼らは知的で思慮深い歌詞（このせいで一部からは「レキシコン・パンクス＝辞書パンクス」などと呼ばれている）とアグレッシヴなサウンドという伝統的な組み合わせを守り続けてきた。きっと、このバンドが挑戦的に掲げるスローガンには「忍耐力が最後には勝つ」と書いてあるに違いない。というのも、80年の結成当初のメンバーであるブレット・ガーヴィッツ（g）が立ち上げたレーベル＜エピタフ＞から『How Could Hell be Any Worse』でデビューを果たしているのだが、バンドがある程度の成功を収めたのは88年の『Suffer's』以降——比較的メンバーを固定し、音楽的な方向性を明確にするようになってからのことだからである。このアルバムに収録されたパワー漲るアンセム「You are」は、若きパンクスに「法律学」という言葉の意味を教えた作品だった。
    以来、オーディエンスはほぼ毎年、熱狂的なパワー・コードに乗ってグレッグ・グラフィンが荒々しい声で喚き散らす新作を耳にするようになった。彼らは、最初のサウンドと方向性を信じて追求し続け、自らの居場所を確立することに成功したバンドの好例である。
